SA-1 is a 42 mm hand-wound mechanical watch built around four external attachment points. The standard pins can be changed with a 2 mm hex driver; the physical sample can also be worn without them. This gives the owner a way to alter the exterior while keeping the case geometry and internal mechanism intact.
The case combines straight steel flanks with a raised circular bezel. A sandwich dial places cut-out markings above a luminous layer. The movement is a Sellita SW210 b without a date.
SA-1 is the first physical watch in the Specus project. It puts an interest in material culture into everyday use: winding a mechanism, choosing an external detail and maintaining a personal object over time. Different pin colours, materials and artist collaborations are planned. Protective rings and bumpers remain in development.
The first physical sample has been received. Serial production, final pricing and delivery dates have not been announced in this press kit. The project page offers an update list for future pre-order information.
