THE SPECUS WATCH REPORT
Modular Watch System File

Specus Watch is the first artifact of a horological system designed as an open interface. The watch records the initial state of the project: a clear physical form around which interchangeable elements, future modules, visual extensions, and authorial interpretations may later appear.
This file records the current state of the system: the composition of the watch, the logic of movement through time, the open zones for independent modeling, and the nearest point of entry into the project.

01 / Modules and System Composition
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| File ID | SPECUS‑WATCH‑001‑01 |
| Section | SYSTEM COMPOSITION |
| Primary Object | Specus Watch System |
| Object Type | Modular horological platform |
| Status | INCOMPLETE BY DESIGN |
| Case Geometry | Fixed / non-interchangeable |
| Bezel | Fixed / non-interchangeable |
| Extension Modules | Crowns / protective systems |
Known System State
Specus is built around a base watch with fixed case geometry and a fixed bezel. The case and bezel define the permanent core of the system. The openness of Specus appears in the possibility of adding external interface elements to this core.
The main modular zones are the crown and the protective structures around the case. They can change the character of the watch, strengthen its visual identity, add a protective function, or turn the object into a carrier for future collaborations.

Known Elements

| Element | Status |
|---|---|
| Watch chassis | Base construction |
| Case | Fixed geometry |
| Bezel | Non-interchangeable element |
| Dial | Sandwich plate / layered construction |
| Crown | Modular expansion point |
| Interchangeable crown caps | Planned module |
| Protective guards | Planned protective system |
| Open module files | Planned for publication |
| Final system form | Not closed |
Observation
The modularity of Specus does not imply endless replacement of every part. The project is held in the tension between a fixed core and interchangeable external layers. The watch remains recognizable, while a new shell can emerge around it: protective, symbolic, engineered, or authored.

Archive Notes
- The case and bezel are the fixed foundation of the system.
- The main extension modules are connected to the crown and protective elements.
- The sandwich dial plate is recorded as a separate structural layer.
- Future modules may change the perception of the watch without replacing the base geometry.
- Specus is conceived as a system that can continue to develop after the first release.

The Idea of a Temporal Object
Specus follows the logic of nonlinear development. The watch appears first as the most legible and material artifact of the system, but part of its meaning may emerge later.
The base watch initiates a temporal structure. Modules, collaborations, open drawings, and future versions may return to this object and change how it is read. In this sense, Specus does not move only forward: future elements can redefine the meaning of watches that already exist.
The project can be read as a system that does not yet exist in its full form, while its first signs are already present in the present. The watch becomes the initial artifact of this system — its first physical evidence.

Key Finding
Specus does not end at the moment of release. It is initiated. The first release records only the initial state of the system, not its final meaning.
Archive Notes
- The future participates in the design of the system.
- A module may appear after the watch itself.
- A user or external author may become part of the project timeline.
- The Specus archive grows after the object enters the world.
03 / Open System

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| File ID | SPECUS‑WATCH‑001‑03 |
| Section | OPEN SYSTEM |
| Open Elements | Crown caps / protective guards |
| File Type | 3D / CAD / reference geometry |
| Purpose | User-made extension modules |
| Authorship | SPECUS / USERS / FUTURE COLLABORATORS |
| Status | TO BE RELEASED |
Open Drawings
One of the key ideas of Specus is to allow the system to develop beyond the original author. For this purpose, open files are planned for extension modules: interchangeable crown elements and protective systems.
These files are not intended to replace the case or bezel. They work around the fixed core of the watch. A user will be able to use them as a basis for their own variations: print an experimental module, change the shape of a guard, propose a visual extension, or create an object that exists alongside the base watch.

What Can Be Extended
| Zone | Extension Logic |
|---|---|
| Crown caps | Interchangeable external crown elements |
| Protective guards | Protective or visual structures around the case |
| Module surface | Materials, textures, engraving, color |
| Module form | User variations within compatibility limits |
| Project archive | Addition of new versions, prototypes, and interpretations |

Archive Notes
- The open system does not remove the fixed core of the watch.
- User-made modules must be built around the given geometry.
- The main open zones are the crown and the protective system.
- Future authors can expand the project without changing the base architecture.

Nearest Point of Entry
The nearest Specus event is connected to the launch of the next phase of the project. The user will be able to sign up for a notification about the beginning of the Kickstarter campaign.
This is an important moment for the whole system: the campaign not only tests interest in the watch, but also gathers the first observers, future owners, module authors, and participants of the archive around the project.

What Will Be Announced

| Final Date | To be announced later |

Closing Statement
Specus begins with a watch because the watch is the first and most legible artifact of the system. The fixed core defines the form, interchangeable modules add variation, open drawings allow external authorship, and the nearest campaign becomes the first public event in this timeline.
Specus does not end at the moment of release. It is initiated in the present so that it can be developed later.
